EIGHTIES EXERCISE REVIVAL HITS TOWN
From pole-dancing to hula-hooping, there’s no shortage of new fitness fads that promise to tone you to perfection and melt away those pounds, so there must be something pretty special about an exercise that remains as popular as ever after nearly 30 years.
LES MILLS BODYATTACK™ – the latest class to be offered at the Thomasville YMCA has been helping people get fit since the 1980s and Kim Smith, YMCA Fitness Director says its success is all down to an intoxicating combination of great music, inspiring instructors and simple, high-energy moves.
“We’ve seen lots of exercise trends come and go over the years,” says Kim. “But this is aerobics at its best – ideal for anyone seeking a high-energy workout. It combines athletic movements with strength and stabilization exercises to burn calories, increase your heart and lung capacity, and raise your overall fitness and stamina levels.
“In terms of cross-training, it’s the perfect complement to some of the newer programs – especially if you’re serious about getting fit – fast!”
LES MILLS BODYATTACK™ was one of the first exercise programs to be developed by New Zealander Phillip Mills. Five million people a week now take part in LES MILLS™ programs in 12,000 clubs in more than 70 countries around the world. All the choreography is developed in conjunction with health experts to ensure the moves are safe, and classes are updated every three months so participants stay inspired.
Join us to have fun and get in shape. Kim says members will love the combination of uplifting music and specially trained, motivating instructors in the classes – not to mention the fact that they get great results!
