Return Participant (Penalty) Rule

**RULE ONLY APPLIES TO THOSE THAT LOST 30 POUNDS OR MORE IN 2009 TEAM LEAN**

Returning participants that lost 30 pounds or more in 2009 competition please note:

You may be subject to penalty if you have gained back more than half of your weight lost in 2009 competition.  For example if you lost 30 pounds, you would be penalized if you gain back more than 15 of those pounds.  If you lost 40 pounds, you would be penalized if you gain back more than 20 of those pounds.

What is the penalty?

Those affected by this rule would not be credited for new weight loss until their weight drops below their 2009 "halfway" number.  The halfway number is based on half of your total pounds lost during the 2009 competition.  For example if you lost 30 pounds, your halfway number is 15.  If you lost 40 pounds, your halfway number is 20.

Team Lean History

2009

Over 1,400 people participated in the 2nd Annual Team Lean program losing an amazing total of 16,799 lbs!  Two weeks were added to the '09 competition, taking it from an 8-week program to a 10-week program.  Team Lean was sponsored by the Thomasville YMCA, Archbold Hospital, and Flowers Foods.  It was open to the community.  The program offered support and motiviation to anyone that wanted to lose weight.  Weekly weigh-ins were held on Wednesday's through March 25, 2009.  Participants had the option of competing as a TEAM or INDIVIDUAL.  Teams consisted of either 4 or 5 team members.  Exercise and proper nutrition were encouraged, both throughout the 10-week program, and as permanent lifestyle adaptations.  Cash prizes totaling $52,000 were awarded to the Top 20% of teams (based on % weight lost) as well as the Top 5 Female & Male Team Leaners.

2008

1,150 people competed in the 1st Annual Team Lean program in 2008.   Team Lean is a community weight-loss program sponsored by two of Thomas County's wellness leaders, the Thomasville YMCA and Archbold Hospital.  The program is a proactive approach to combat an obesity epidemic which has become a major health concern to people in the United States.   Before and after health screenings were done to monitor participants' blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels.

Results were impressive as over 13,000 pounds were shed in the 8-week period.   Cash prizes were awarded to the Top 20% of teams (based on % weight lost) as well as the Top 5 Female & Male Team Leaners.  Once the competition ended, many Team Leaners continued their weight loss through an optional maintenance program.
